本书以2008年汶川大地震为背景，从建国以来灾难报道伦理的历史演进，到灾难报道伦理的概念、准则、规范和困境，以及传统媒体、新媒体和涉密单位灾难报道，系统讨论了我国灾难报道的伦理问题，并以实证研究回应了理论假设。本书具有理论的开创性，实践的反思性。
